As the third child of Aeine and Raleh Matuishi. Key's father was one of the best short-asteroid belt track drivers in SOL at the time and won his first and only SPACErace Sportsman Championship in 2912 at GreenHex Metal Belt Speedway in Neptune's Rings. In 2918, After his father started Tuxedo Racing, he raced his father at Meteor Speedway in a race with ships from semi mod and sportsman divisions. Although Raleh did not want his son to pursue a career as a race pilot, Keysanu dropped out of school to pursue his dreams. Raleh was a hard teacher for Keysanu, and after Raleh died of a heart attack at his home in 2929 at age 45, it took many years before Key felt as though he had finally "proven" himself to his father. Keysanu had four siblings: two brothers, Dante and Raine and two sisters, Caty and Kalio.
