Relinquished Professor James Lombardi had a turbulent childhood. Born of trader and ship designer Nathasia Lombardi, with a father unknown. During a trade cruise when he was 6 years old, pirates of an unknown alien species attacked and destroyed their ship. Nathasia was never heard from again and presumed dead, but James somehow survived the ordeal. He was kidnapped and subjected to terrible experiments by the aliens.
A few years later a rescue mission was launched to search for the missing child. He was eventually found in an abandoned alien base, scarred and bruised yet alive. James then started school and showed an unprecedented intelligence, surpassing his other classmates. In 5 years he had undergone basic education and applied for the local university. At the tender age of 16 he defended his first of a series of Ph.D theses.
