One day, flying with his cargo hold filled to the brim with highly expensive medical isotopes and his info storage banks fully used up by government intel, he encountered strange behavior of the latter. He ran an antivirus scanner, but he did not encounter a virus. He encountered something far more disturbing.
A video showing government soldiers eliminating an unknown, unarmed and peaceful life form. He knew that this was illegal. But he also knew that it was illegal to actively leak the intel.
Without leaving any traces he copied the video to a spare emergency info bank and tossed it out of the ship. Like this, the info bank looked like it was lost during info transmission operations.
