The Coalfire Flatcats adheres to a harsh but simple philosophy: “If they won’t give it, take it.” They believe in total worker control over industry, rejecting the UEE’s complicity in corporate corruption.
The Coalfire Flatcat’s are a militant underground faction dedicated to dismantling Hurston Dynamics’ corporate stranglehold over Stanton’s workers. Their name is a direct reference to the Coalfire Rebellion, inspired by the brutal real-world 1902 Coal Wars, a period of violent labor uprisings where miners fought against company exploitation. The Flatcats of Kampos are a secondary inspiration for their hardy and tough origins from the heavy Gravity of Kampos, which hints to the faction’s tendency to focus of ground operations.
Unlike the broader Workers’ Party of Hurston (WPH), which leans toward organized labor strikes and sabotage, the Coalfire Flatcat embraces direct action and violent resistance. They see negotiation as futile, believing that Hurston Dynamics will never willingly relinquish power. Their tactics include:
Facility Raids – Destroying or repurposing Hurston-owned infrastructure.
Worker Liberations – Smuggling Hurston employees off-world to break their corporate contracts.
Targeted Assassinations – Eliminating key Hurston executives and enforcers.
Industrial Sabotage – Overloading mining equipment, disrupting terraforming efforts, and poisoning fuel supplies to cripple corporate profits.
The Coalfire Flatcat adheres to a harsh but simple philosophy: “If they won’t give it, take it.” They believe in total worker control over industry, rejecting the UEE’s complicity in corporate corruption. Many of their members are former Hurston security officers, factory workers, and miners, hardened by years of mistreatment. They use guerilla warfare tactics and stolen Hurston tech as needed.
