History

The Republic has gone through several ‘eras’ that match up with the style of game it is focusing on at that period. This is the National System in which the Republic plays as a whole community. There is also a Province System which allows for smaller game branches to exist within the overall community and not be diminished or disallowed from participating in the decisions of the Senate.
Classic Republic refers to the ancient Greek and Roman style Republics as the guild was originally founded
Crowned Republic is the feudal Republic as adopted for Darkfall Online originally to match the Kingdom of Hyperion and is still used today
Free Republic reflects modern era Republics such as the United States with full elections for positions in a quasi-Federal system using the Province System
Galactic Republic deals with futuristic and Sci-Fi settings with a less centralized government and more of a corporate environment leaning on the Great Houses
Each ‘flavor’ or ‘era’ of the Republic is matched with the game allowing the guild to adopt a structure that maintains a core set of principles and ideas while flexing to keep the nation relevant and effective. The Province System allows for smaller branches and comes in several of its own templates.
Expeditionary Unit a small tactical unit (191st Expeditionary Force) that is built around mobility and effects based planning.
Silver Suns Free Company (Condotta) Condotta is an Italian term for ‘the contract’ which were military mercenary companies seeing heavy use during the Renaissance.
Order The Ordo d’Argento is a cult religious institution within the Republic and can be employed on its own within game branches.
Great Houses each Great House is able to focus itself and run a game branch separate from the main branch.
Province generic game branches are treated as their own provinces with a governor and limited staff.
There are times when the Silver Sun Republic has been set up as its own nation, which leads to a special National System pulling in other communities and guilds as subordinate, but fully participatory members in a national Senate and utilizing a City-State System.
Imperial Republic built around a strong central government that is run by the Silver Sun with subordinate guilds treated as provinces and sending delegates to the Senate
Currently, the Silver Sun Republic is affiliated with the MilitaryGamers.com community, a network of current and former US Military members. Together the two participate in joint efforts titled Joint Task Force Viper.
Joint Task Force Viper is the joint Command and Control infrastructure between Silver Sun Republic and MilitaryGamers.com

Overview

The Silver Sun Republic is an RP-PvP community that has a long and distinguished history serving as the core element of many larger alliances and nations across several different MMOs including Darkfall Online, Age of Conan, Shadowbane, Mortal Online and Planetside.

The purpose of our guild is to provide immersion as it enhances gameplay and not to hold ourselves back by overbearing structures or processes.

We leverage a lot of US Military experience through our membership base and our working partnership with MilitaryGamers.com (community of current and former US Military).

Structure

The Republic broken up into several Ministries; Ministry of War, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of State and the Executive Ministry with a focus on a series of tasks or responsibilities.

The Military is broken down into the professional military and the militia with everyone contributing in some way to the fight and the community as a whole.

Citizens of the Republic also have the opportunity to start or join their own Great Houses that further refine the gameplay or style of a given player. Each Great House contributes their own standing military to the greater military of the Republic.

Joint Task Force Viper

Together with MilitaryGamers.com we’ve developed Joint Task Force Viper which seeks to leverage the real world military experience between our two communities. It forms the basis for our involvement in PvP and the civil government structure that supports our military efforts. The focus on PvP and the military element lends itself to streamline the civil structure to ensure that we are effective and flexible enough to respond to any emerging threats.

Past Victories

Silver Sun Republic has developed and contributed to many high profile alliances and nations most notably the Kingdom of Hyperion in which we provided the early Command and Control elements to truly dominate the PvP landscape. Our core group was forced into hiatus due to RL military commitments and Hyperion began to dwindle. Our new integration with MilitaryGamers.com will help us employ even more forces on par with our principles of maneuver warfare and flexible control concepts.

In Planetside 2 we’ve been able to field highly capable forces integrating air and ground assets to provide truly game changing effects. As we develop our own systems and tactics in cooperation with MG we hope to achieve even more impact in the field.
