The Collective is a pseudo-species of cybernetic or regular beings. We are individuals inked and sharing a hive mind. Our ultimate goal is the attainment of ‘perfection’ through association of diverse sentient species, technologies, and knowledge. As a result, the Collective aspire to be among the most powerful respected entities.
The physiology of each drone or member varies according to the species from which it was collected or assimilated. Drones are typically humanoid, although the Collective demonstrate a willingness to assimilate non-humanoid lifeforms.
Upon assimilation, a drone cease to grow body hair and develop a greyish skin colouration, ignoring original skin pigmentation. Cybernetic implants are either surgically attached to the body or grow internally by nanoprobes injected into the bloodstream. The nature of these implants vary from drone to drone depending on the drone’s intended function, but basic nodes of interlink for communications with the Collective and a myoneural cortical array to control movements are implemented in every drone.
A drone’s only requirement is a supply of energy to maintain the implants that in turn maintains its biological functions. This energy is supplied during regeneration cycles within an alcove. Upon receiving damage, a drone would return to the alcove for assessment of the damage. Severely damaged drones are disassembled and scavenged for reusable parts.
Drones are equipped with a myriad of technologies integrated into their bodies which enabled them to perform their duties within the Collective, several of which are universal to all drones. A neural transceiver kept them connected to the hive mind at all time.
The Collective philosophy is governed by a primary directive to add the biological and technological distinctiveness of other species to themself.
In this manner, the Collective seeks to achieve its definition of perfection. All other pursuits are deemed irrelevant. The drones believe in the superiority of their way of life.
It is unclear whether these principles are simply the consensus of the majority of the Collective drones, or if they are “hard-wired” into the technology that links the hive-mind together. Having less regard for individuality, Collective drones are identified with designations rather than names. A drone’s designation typically describes its position within a group. To specifically a drone identity, its function could be appended to his designation.
